W. David Gardner at InformationWeek wrote a post summarizing a survey of influential Android app developers. The survey was conducted by Skyhook Wireless, a company that makes software used by developers of located-based apps. Apparently, those surveyed were unhappy with their downloads/profits, the Android Marketplace design and Google Checkout.
57% reported that they were unhappy with their profits and 82% reported that Android Marketplace made it difficult for potential customers to find the developers’ apps. On an upbeat note, Kate Imbach, Skyhook’s Vice President of Marketing, stated that developers are excited about Android’s potential. Perhaps the dissatisfaction will be a mere bump in the road for the Android platform.
