DailyTech is reporting that the HTC Incredible is slated for release by Verizon within two weeks. Reporter Jason Mick broke the news and cites unnamed sources within Verizon.

The HTC Incredible could set the bar for Android 2.1 devices… or it may not. It’s roughly comparable to a Nexus One but may have less RAM, an underclocked processor, an 8 MP camera (Nexus One has a 5 MP), a dual LED flash (which is apparent from every photograph that has surfaced), and HTC’s proprietary Sense UI.  So, it appears the HTC Incredible and the Nexus One are quite similar but a little different.. if the rumors are credible (or they may be Incredible!).

This is good news for Big Red because Verizon is lagging the Android world with its flagship Motorola Droid (Android 2.0 for now but upgrade to 2.1 soon). Already, the Nexus One has been released for T-Mobile and AT&T. A recent Sprint announcement hit the interwebs yesterday.

The next couple of weeks will be very interesting for Verizon. Both the Nexus One and the HTC Incredible will probably hit around the same time. The Nexus One, however, will only be available online and may not be eligible for upgrade pricing. It retails at $529. Pricing for the HTC Incredible is not yet available.
